You are all welcome to the Office of the Dean of Students, Kabale University! This is the office that is in charge of students' general wellbeing, so do not refrain from meeting or contacting the Dean of Students in the event of students' welfare being unsatisfactory or infringed upon. The office offers the following to students:   The office is a link that ensures amicable relations among different parties in many ways. Firstly, it bridges and ensures cordial relations between the University Management and the Students' Leadership (Guild Body) as well as individual students. Secondly, it looks into and solves disagreements that may arise between a student and a staff member. Thirdly, individual students' misunderstandings are solved, including those that involve assault. Thus, the Dean's Office contributes to guaranteeing harmony among members of the university community.

• Individual students' psychological wellbeing is also catered for. The Dean empathetically attends to students who have been aggrieved through loss of beloved ones, sexual harassment, rape and any other form of assault and/or unfair treatment.


• The Dean's Office works in conjunction with security organs (DISO, the Police, and University Security Personnel) and University Custodian(s) to ensure security for students and their property.


• In conjunction with the University Custodian(s), and consultation with the University Management, the Dean's Office secures accommodation for students residing on campus and negotiates with private accommodation providers for students who stay off campus.


• Through working hand-in-hand with the University Estates Department, the Dean's Office ensures that students live and study in a hygienically conducive environment. In this respect, the Dean provides counsel on the cleanliness and accessibility of facilities (lecture/study rooms, hostels, canteens, water and toilets) utilized by students.


• The Dean's Office also monitors the activities of the University Clinic. The Dean is directly involved in seeing that required healthcare services are available and accessible to students.


• Democratic students' leadership is guaranteed. Every year, free and fair guild elections are conducted. The Dean makes sure that the Students' Guild provides good leadership to all students during their term of office.


• Sports/recreation/entertainment services are availed. The Dean works with the University Sports Officer, the Guild Sports Minister and the Guild Entertainment Minister to ensure the availability of these services. Different sports activities (football, volleyball, and basketball) take place in the evenings. DSTV services are available to students interested in watching movies/films and live sports tournaments/leagues.

Overall, the Dean of Students, in conjunction with the University Management and other university departments/units, guarantees students: safety and security, good leadership, accommodation, psychological wellbeing, healthcare, entertainment, sports and recreation, plus a high level of discipline in hostels and other university premises. The students are guided by the University rules and regulations that were promulgated by the University Council in conformity with Article 27 of the Kabale University Charter.

The University Administration listens to students' complaints with keen diligence. We therefore aim at making every student at Kabale University happy and comfortable.
